Our Workshops Travel!
While most workshops are on Oahu HI, and Whidbey Island WA, we have facilitated Experience Winefulness workshops in Denver CO, The Bay Area in CA, Phoenix AZ, and Winnipeg Canada! And since COVID we have taken our events online. Please contact us if you are interested in bringing an event to your hometown!
No - we do not sell wine.
We do partner with wineries, wine shops, and restaurants to curate wine selections for our workshops and can definitely help with recommendations for your next bottle or your entire cellar.
Experience Winefulness workshops are wine agnostic. Which means they are not tied to any specific brand or varietal. Wine may be provided during the workshop for educational purposes only. If you want to purchase wine tasted at the workshop, we can typically provide you with the contact details for ordering it yourself.
*Hosts are responsible to obtaining the appropriate liquor licenses for public events.
Great question!
It's little difficult to answer since each of our workshops are as unique as the people in them.
First and foremost you can expect fun!
Our workshops are casual, so show up as you are and ready to experience something new. Some workshops are at table settings and some are on yoga mats; some are outside, while others are inside.
Our Workshops are "Sommelier Style" classes that combine a lot of nerdy wine details with guided meditations and mindfulness techniques. Your workshop will include all the materials you need to be successful and a variety of tasting elements (nibbles) to make it the best experience possible.
We keep our workshops small so you can get plenty of personal attention and answers to all your burning wine questions.
Our workshops are perfect for:
YES! We do recommend taking some classes together over others. For instance taking Wine, Body, Balance and the Original Winefulness together or Palate Perspectives and Conscious Coupling are great pairs!
About 30% of people asked, report having some anxiety when buying wine or ordering in a restaurant. Experience Winefulness workshops will help you identify your personal preferences and give you the language to ask for more of what you want without the anxiety. If that's not enough here are 10 more reasons!
Our founder, Kellie Johnsen is a mindfulness expert and therapist who found that many of her client's "used wine" when asked about their self-care routine. As a trained sommelier, Kellie quickly realized that wine is an excellent conduit for mindfulness and she saw an opportunity to change the way many experience wine while also promoting more responsible consumption. Over the years, Kellie and her husband, Aaron, have been wine reps for several well-known (and a few lesser known) wineries and producers.
Aaron grew up in California's wine country and worked in the industry throughout his career. Aaron is a history and geography nerd and is fascinated by the impact weather, land, and laws impact the fermented grape juice. Aaron and Kellie have spent their adult lives learning about the places, faces, and spaces that make wine the magical elixir it is and they are excited to share it with you! - Check out our About Us Page for more.
Periodically thought the year we offer public and semi-public workshops. We will post our public classes on FB and Eventbrite.
Sips, Sex and Serenity Course opens a couple of times a year and you can find out more about that either on our FB page or through Eventbrite too.
If you don't want to wait, you can set up a private workshop in your home or place of business. Just contact us to shape your perfect wine workshop together.
